Above all, they are the person holding everything together when emotions run high.\n      <\/p>\n\n      <h2>Preparation begins long before the performance<\/h2>\n      <p>\n        A competition involves much more than the few minutes of dancing the audience sees. It is an organised chaos that dance parents understand particularly well.\n      <\/p>\n\n      <h2>The teamwork that develops behind the scenes<\/h2>\n      <p>\n        Dance and ballet competitions create special bonds between parents as well as children. Mums swap emergency safety pins, hairspray, powder and hair ties, help redo buns and support one another through a busy competition.\n      <\/p>\n\n      <p>\n        Sometimes it is only in the evening that they realise they have forgotten to eat, or even drink water, since morning, caught up in the nerves, rushing, costumes, schedules and care for their children.\n      <\/p>\n\n      <p>\n        These tiring, intense days create a special community, built on shared emotions, support and a love of dance.\n      <\/p>\n\n      <h2>Parents can feel even more nervous than their children<\/h2>\n      <p>\n        Backstage, nerves fill the air. Dancers concentrate, teachers coordinate the final details and parents try to stay calm, even when their hearts are racing too.\n      <\/p>\n\n      <p>\n        There is the fear of forgotten choreography, nerves about a difficult lift, stress about delays, concern about injuries and the pressure of competition.\n      <\/p>\n\n      <p>\n        Alongside all this is the immense pride of seeing a child step on stage and do what they love.\n      <\/p>\n\n      <h2>Parents\u2019 role: support rather than pressure<\/h2>\n      <p>\n        Competition results can bring joy or disappointment.
